About Prague:
Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic, is bisected by the Vltava River. Nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires,” it's known for its Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core, with colourful baroque buildings, Gothic churches and the medieval Astronomical Clock, which gives an animated hourly show. Completed in 1402, pedestrian Charles Bridge is lined with statues of Catholic saints.
Prague may be a political, cultural and economic centre of central Europe complete with an upscale history. Founded during the Romanesque and flourishing by the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras, Prague was the capital of the dominion of Bohemia and therefore the main residence of several Holy Roman Emperors, most notably of Charles IV (r. 1346–1378). It was a crucial city to the Habsburg Monarchy and its Austro-Hungarian Empire. The city played major roles within the Bohemian and Reformation, the Thirty Years' War and in 20th-century history because the capital of Czechoslovakia between the planet Wars and the post-war Communist era.
Prague is home to variety of well-known cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th-century Europe. Main attractions include Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square with the Prague astronomical clock, the Jewish Quarter, Petron hill and Vysehrad. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included within the UNESCO list of World Heritage.
The city has quite ten major museums, alongside numerous theatres, galleries, cinemas and other historical exhibits. An extensive modern public transportation connects the town. It is home to a good range of public and personal schools, including Charles University in Prague, the oldest university in Central Europe. Prague is classified as an "Alpha −" global city according to Gawks studies and ranked sixth in the Trip advisor world list of best destinations in 2016. In 2019, the town was ranked as 69th most liveable city within the world by Mercer. In the same year, the PISCA Index ranked the town as 13th most liveable city within the world. Its rich history makes it a well-liked tourist destination and as of 2017, the town receives quite 8.5 million international visitors annually. In 2017 Prague was listed because the fifth most visited European city after London, Paris, Rome and Istanbul.
